Today is a Good Day

Welcome to the first of what I am hoping to be a lot of blog entries on the brand new website. This is going to be a lot less clunky (in theory) than the old one which was retired back in 2019 (which at this point, may as well have been a million years ago.) It was pre-pandemic, and frankly, 50 pounds ago. (Not that I’m dwelling on that.

I’ve been plotting and scheming and figured out that I’m horrible at plotting and scheming. Like, really bad. So I halted everything; social media being at the top of the list (thus, the silence.)

There were some health issues, (some of which still linger,) some personality conflicts too (not lingering, because I don’t play that) and a general malaise that I think most of us had during the pandemic.

So, why would I want to go back to the way things were?

I don’t

This is different; at least I want it to be different. I want it to be something fun. So much of our time is spent working on stuff that isn’t very much fun. Sometimes it’s working for or with people who aren’t any fun to be around. Ever been told that you can’t have fun or enjoy yourself all the time?

Well why not? Why can’t you just enjoy yourself doing what you do, whatever that means to you? It’s possible, at least I think so. Life is not nearly as long as you might think it is. I mean, it is long when you’re 15 and bored out of your skull. It’s long if you work until 4 and it’s been 3:30 for the past three hours…you catch my drift.

How long is it when you’re fifty two? I was thirty three days ago and holy shit, I gotta be fifty two now?!?

It really didn’t take that long at all. My oldest daughter graduated high school last year. She’s going to be nineteen soon. My youngest daughter is driving like a champ. Where did all that time go?

It went where it always goes.

It goes away, but that is not a bad thing. Things happen. Things fall apart and sometimes, it’s better that they do. Things change as they should. “The only thing constantly changing is change,” Lou Reed once sang and he was totally correct.

You either accept the change or the change is going to happen without your active participation and then won’t you be on the short end of the stick? (If you’re into sticks.)

I have lots to tell you all and I have missed you, but before I start telling you what I’m cooking up, I wanted to say a very hearty thank you to all of you who reached out to say hello, to ask how I am, or to say that they miss the “Librarian” (which always makes me smile.)

We’ll get to all the new stuff soon, but for right now, at this moment, it’s time to say hello all over again as honestly and sincerely as I can.

It’s very lovely to be back!

Nelson

Addendum;

As of this writing I’m still recovering from some really fun open heart surgery (valve replacement) and to be honest, I look forward to feeling better. I’m super optimistic and my health is already improving. Also, gonna have a really badass scar!

There is a lot cooking over here, so stay tuned!
