Musings from the road…

Not quite 24 hours into my first trip to California has been interesting so far. There is an actual canyon down the street from my Air BNB complete with cacti and palm trees. I wanted to immediately see the pacific ocean but passed out around 11:40PM (really, 8:40PM PST) which is where the next part comes into play..
I wake up daily at around 5:00 AM. During the week, weekend, holidays etc. Every day.
Every.
Single.
Day.
And location has nothing to do with it.
So, when I woke up at the same time the only difference was that it was 2:00 AM PST.
My inner clock is a dick
I fell back asleep around 3 and woke up again at 5:57 AM before the 6 AM alarm I set up went off. I took a trip to a breakfast joint called the Mission. It was a perfect example of getting older-It was 7:10 and I was the first customer.
The Mission is a really nice place with bitchin’ coffee. And I got the early bird special called the Farmer’s Daughter. (The early bird special made me feel very old. Older than the heart surgery last year and that’s saying a lot.) But, having Alanis Morrissette serenade you while eating is fairly cool too (even though that is now considered an oldie but a goodie…dammit.)
Then I walked for 2 miles looking around, having never been to California much less seen the Pacific and although as the time it was overcast, it was really beautiful.
Today’s lunch will be leftover Chinese in the room, perhaps a quick nap (old, remember) and heading down to the StokerCon hotel to hang with some spooky pals and perhaps some dinner before tomorrow becomes an all day gauntlet.
More to come!
