In the middle of the COVID 19 pandemic, there was a super fun live reading at Chatham University on October 14th, 2021 featuring authors Sara Tantlinger, Douglas Gwilym, Michael Arnzen and the mighty Jocelyn Codner.
And me? I was the opening slab of storyteller.
It was a fun evening for all involved especially for us Pittsburgh Horror Writers as we’d not seen each other since the last in person HWA meeting that was right before the pandemic.
Part of the advertising for the night was also National Dessert Day. To my surprise, we had all missed that part and had to resort to reading our stories on zero sugar high.
And it really was awesome.
This was the first live reading of the anchor story for my perpetually upcoming collection of short stories of the same name. It was fairly well received and as a bonus, there is a classic Mike Arnzen laugh (you’ll have to wait for it) in the middle of the reading.
The story itself is a rewrite of an older story and I think this version is a cleaner and meaner story. I hope you like it!
